Question: Are yogurt covered pretzels, nuts or fruit a better option than chocolate or candy covered?
Answer: Real yogurt can’t coat anything. The yogurt coating is mostly sugar and palm kernel oil.
It’s a super old gimmick that still has traction and sometimes still confuses.
Try seasoned baked snacks, unsweetened dried fruit or cinnamon or cocoa roasted nuts? Consider single serving sizes for portion control and snacks on the go.
Of these choices, my recommendation would be to choose the nuts – they are the most nutrient dense with protein, fiber and omega- 3 fatty acids. A single serving of nuts should fit into a shot glass.
Make your own, check the bulk bins at your grocery of choice or try Emerald brand- available at any grocery store-even Target.
Whatever you decide, do your body a favor- skip the sugar and the palm kernel oil phonies.
