Researchers believe that green tea – specifically the epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) catechin – may have important anti-cancer properties… Okay- I’m in right there.
Need more? Newer studies indicate that EGCG inhibits the enzyme that normally breaks down the neurohormone norepinephrine. Norepinephrine keeps the metabolic rate up, so preventing its breakdown helps you burn more calories throughout the day. Drinking green tea is a great way to stay hydrated and a tasty alternative to water. According to a study in the Journal of Functional Foods* which reported that subjects drinking green tea while exercising lost significantly more abdominal fat than those drinking a placebo. .…. I’m sold.
Try a few of my favorites:
- Honest Tea Moroccan Mint flavor (34 calories for the whole bottle);
- TAZO: Zen Green Tea (zero calories);
- Traditional Medicinals: Green Tea with Ginger (zero calories).
